Why We Started a Design Studio in Guwahati

Before Luit Studio existed, Abhishek Kumar Prasad and Prince Das were both working as web developers — building things for other people, on other people's terms. Like most developers, we also had our own side projects running alongside that work: things we built for ourselves, on our own time, mostly to figure out what we actually wanted to make.

Those personal projects are what actually pushed us toward starting a studio. Not a single dramatic moment — more that we kept building things we cared about, and at some point it made more sense to do that as our own thing than as a side note to someone else's.

The part we didn't do: leaving

The usual move, if you're a developer in Assam thinking about building something real, is to move — Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, wherever the industry is denser. We considered it, like most people here do at some point. But the decision we actually made was the opposite: build the kind of studio we wanted to work at, here, instead of somewhere else.

Guwahati isn't short on demand for good web development, design, and marketing work. It's short on studios doing it properly, on the ground, instead of routing everything through an agency in another city. That gap is a large part of why staying made sense.

Why "Luit"

Luit is what the Brahmaputra is called locally — the river Guwahati sits on, the river we live beside. We didn't pick the name to sound clever or symbolic. It's just what's actually here, and it felt like the right name for a studio that's staying rather than leaving.

Where that leaves us

Luit Studio started in April 2026. It's still a small team, and that's deliberate — we'd rather stay closely involved in the work we take on than grow past the point where we're still the ones doing it. If that's the kind of studio you're looking for, get in touch.
